SHEILA BANDYOPADHYAY is a director, movement specialist, performer and devisor of original theater in New York City. With an extensive background in new work and Shakespeare, Sheila is committed to non-traditional theatrical performance that is literary, music-driven and physical. She enjoys working on ensemble shows and innovative adaptations of classical texts. As a movement specialist, Sheila offers a unique form of comprehensive body training for the actor that integrates Alexander Technique and release-based movement into the athletic and creative demands of physical theater styles (mask, commedia, clown). Sheila is an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, yoga instructor and graduate of Dell’Arte International. This fall, Sheila is an Artist-in-Residence at the Balance Arts Center, where she will continue development of her original concert play, 'rise/fall.'
